Design one of four models of L'ilBoard regulator:
This calculator handles the calculations for setting up a regulator L'ilBoard. It is a full worst-case calculator, taking into account the second order effect of the regulator's own adjust terminal current, resistor tolerances, and specified variations on Vref to calculate the min/nominal/max spread on the output voltage. It can be used to determine the resistor(s) given the desired voltage (or current for the linear regulators), or, it can calculate the output given the resistors.
If the resistors are solved for, then the opportunity to “go backwards” is available: that is the way to get a detailed calculation of the output voltage spread, considering what resistors you actually have available to install on the board.
Additionally, the input voltage range and expected output current may be specified. These are the inputs to the “Supplementary Analysis” section, where dropout potential and power dissipation are assessed.
For the two three-terminal regulator types (LM317 and LM337) similar functionality is implemented for the current source/sink mode.
